Sleeping Room Tax

In 1992, the St. Charles County Convention & Sports Facilities Authority was created under Section 67.1150 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri (RSMo.) On November 3, 1992, the voters of St. Charles County overwhelmingly voted in favor of the 5% tax on room fees for transient guests visiting St. Charles County. Under RSMo §67.1158, this tax applies to all hotels, motels, inns, bed and breakfast facilities and any other entity furnishing or leasing sleeping rooms to transient guests. The validity of the tax was upheld by the Courts in St. Charles County Convention & Sports Facilities Authority v. Mydler, 950 S.W.2d668 (Mo. App. 1997) (Bed and breakfasts are hotels/motels).

Beginning January 1, 2023, the St. Charles County Convention & Sports Facilities Authority will be collecting all Sleeping Room Tax Reports and taxes directly. (Payments will no longer be accepted at the St. Charles County Collector of Revenue’s office.) All checks should be made payable to and mailed to: SCCCSFA, P.O. Box 858, St. Charles, MO 63302, as listed on the new Sleeping Room Tax Report form. This new form and procedures for completing it can be accessed below.
